I would like to add a note about the UT Hall of Fame induction, however. I'm exceedingly happy about it with one reservation: the citation has only passing reference to the wonderful things they do as individuals in addition to their group contributions. For that reason, I'm going to take an opportunity here to add my own notes to what people have already heard or will read. As I think of each of these people, I'm aware of what they've done for the community and for me personally.

Debbie: Through blogging and your involvement with FilkHaven you've helped extend the reach of filk and filkers internationally. You make me feel better about myself (when not feeling overwhelmed) with your encouragement and your infectiously positive attitude.

Jodi: Your Muse's Muse site is a uniquely valuable resource for filkers and non-filk songwriters alike. By volunteering to sing backups on my CD you improved not only the music but also flattered my self-image to an outrageous degree.

Allison: Your dedication to finding new music and spreading it across geographical divisions and even among musical communities has improved filk in Ontario and elsewhere. On a personal level, I'm extremely grateful for having been included in your ambassadorial efforts and for your on-going support.

The citation didn't mention individual contributions because the GROUP was inducted. All of the individuals can and likely will be inducted by themselves for their individual contributions.

Interesting thought.... Is there any filk group that has previously been inducted in addition to all of its members individually?

OCP was one of the Inductees, the first year.

Jordin, Catherine and Terri are all still eligible for inductions as individuals.

Thanks, Dave. So, although possible in theory, it hasn't actually happened for even one member of a group over a sixteen year span, let alone all three.

I'm personally much happier to have been inducted as a group than as individuals :).

And thank you for your kind words, Phil! I love finding new amazing filksongs and singing them where I can.

Thanks for those very sweet words, Phil. It was my true pleasure to sing on your CD (thank you for asking me!) and The Muse's Muse is, as always, my baby. :) I'm very glad you find it helpful to you. :)

I wasn't fishing for a response.... :-) It just seemed right to point out that when we talk about what someone has done for the "community" it sometimes seems more real when augmented by specifics of what they've done for the individuals who make up that community.

Glad to hear you enjoy them. Taking photos seems to have become a big part of my enjoyment of a con.

Great pictures and a very well written post. Thank you for asking me to join you on "Don't call it magic." I really enjoyed that even if I doubt I sang well or even loud enough to be heard (the joy of being hopelessly shy). I enjoy so many of your songs that I'm not sure I could list them all.

My way of playing with others, based on not being very good at it, is to let them do what they want and not be influenced by it. :-)

Unless I *need* to listen to what other people are doing, I mostly don't, and just trust that it will work out. (I think Tom and Howard have both figured that out.) I know it's not right, but it's a step better than where I started. If you actually want to *practice* one or more songs with me some time, that would be different and I'd try to be more careful about leaving space for you in the music.

I hadn't been able to get through to this post when I tried twice before, because of LJ downtime.

Finally was able to now!

Aw Phil, you sweetie. Thank you so much. :-)
